Today marks the beginning of my seventh month of exercising. In that time, I have went from a two and a half mile distance, to over four miles. It is taking a little over an hour to accomplish that goal. I doubt that I will increase my speed to any great degree during the next quarter, but I may increase the distance. The challenge is still the same; the mental factor (getting into the right mindset). Physically I can handle the workout and it has become less taxing now that I watch a movie while using the treadmill. That has made a huge difference over my former method of just listening to music each workout. That became a little boring. I like the visual stimulation.
There is no question in my mind that there are benefits to following an exercise program. There are also some risks - particularly when using a treadmill. But so far, so good. I'm hopping that my commitment doesn't waver over the next six months. But, as they say, stuff happens. I'll do an update at the next quarter - in January.
