Dinner and the Mall

Tonight Nancy and I had dinner at Vince's in Elk Grove (great steaks) and afterwards we did some shopping at Kohl's and Trader Joe's. On the way home I decided to stop my the Elk Grove Auto Mall to see the new 2008 Honda Accord. I have been reading a lot about it in my car magazines, but it was time to see it up close. I can say that I was impressed while reading the reviews on the Accord and even more so - now that I actually got to take a good look at the exterior and interior of the car. It is an exceptionally nice vehicle. I think Honda will sell a lot of Accords, providing consumers are accepting of the slightly larger dimensions and the somewhat higher base price. It has gone up a few hundred dollars. We are not in the market for a new car, but if we were - I'd certainly consider the Accord. It is the kind of vehicle that makes it so difficult for the domestics to compete. The Accord has become more "domestic" (it is manufactured in America) than the cars the "big" (not really so "big" anymore) three are producing. Ah yes... as Friedman says, it is a very flat world we live in.
